Description

The Autonomous Region of Sardinia, with Regional Council Resolution No. 50/31 of September 24, 2025, has allocated 700,000 euros in funding to the Oristano Provincial Industrial Consortium (CIPOR) under the ERDF Sardinia Regional Program 2021-2027 - Priority 3 Green Transition, Action 3.6.2 dedicated to improving industrial and commercial waste management. The resources will be allocated to the construction of a special waste collection area to be located in the Central Body of the Oristano Industrial Agglomeration. The infrastructure, conceived as a pilot best practice, will also be designed to evaluate the replicability of the model in other industrial contexts in Sardinia.
The new facility will enable companies to safely manage special waste produced by industrial and artisanal activities, in accordance with the objectives of the Regional Special Waste Management Plan, which provide for the reduction of landfill disposal, minimization of environmental impacts, and containment of management costs.
Thanks to its strategic location in the central body of the agglomeration and proximity to the port of Oristano, the area will be able to accommodate waste from the major companies established there and those operating in the wider area, establishing itself as a supra-municipal reference hub for the province of Oristano.
"This intervention - declares CIPOR President Gianluigi Carta - represents a concrete step towards more modern, sustainable and efficient management of special waste. It is an important result for our territory, which fits fully into the path of ecological transition and circular economy supported by the Sardinia Region. I consider it appropriate to express appreciation to the Regional Council for having accepted the proposal put forward by the Entity, recognizing its strategic value and positive impact on the productive and environmental system of the territory, which allows us to launch an experimentation destined to become a model for other industrial realities on the island."
The Consortium offices are already organizing to proceed with the executive design of the intervention and the subsequent authorization phase, for which it is expected that the procurement procedures can be initiated in the second half of 2026.
